The alpine grasslands of Uttarakhand, known as bugyals, stretch for miles spanning several ridges above the tree-line offering unhindered views of the Himalayan peaks. These grasslands are usually covered in thick snow in the winter and are coloured a stark brown in the spring as the snow melts and a bright green as the rains arrive. Dayara Bugyal, one of the largest grasslands in Uttarakhand that lies in the shadow of the massive Bandarpunch Massif, is a short 7 km climb from the village of Raithal in the Bhagirathi Valley. Excellent for amateur trekkers, this relatively easier trek doesn’t fail to amaze even experienced travelers to the Himalayas due to its sheer proximity to the snowy mountain ranges
