The unknown yet breathtaking trek to the high altitude lake of Kachani Taal, along the valley of the Madhmaheshwar Ganga, climbs to an altitude of 4600 m through jungles of oak and rhododendron and past sprawling meadows and terrifying cliffs.The adventure takes one deep into the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary amidst snow capped peaks of Chaukhamba and Shipton and the snow fields of Panpatia. The undertaking is a perfect blend of natural beauty, culture, cuisine and traditions – from breathtaking views of the snow-laden mountains to peaceful evenings with the sound of temple bells ringing in the valleys, from locally prepared dishes to archaeological wonders the journey promises to be an interesting adventure.
Arrive early morning at Dehradun/Haridwar and drive to Ransi via Ukhimath. Overnight stay at guesthouse/lodge/home-stay in Ransi village. Visit the famous Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath which is the winter seat of Kedarnath deity.
Start trek from the village Ransi, we will pass by Gaundhar and Bantoli villages on the way to Nanu where we will camp for the day. Gaundhar sits on the confluence of Madhmaheshwar Ganga and Morkhanda Rivers.
It is a short but steep trek from Nanu to Madhyamaheshwar temple. One can hike up to the meadows of Budha Madhyamaheshwar in the evening to catch the majestic peaks turn orange as the sun sets. It will be a warm up session for the tough trek to the Kaachni Lake tomorrow.
A tough day of trekking with some steep sections. Hike up to Kachni Khal (pass) and crossing over to other side would give majestic views of Pandav Sera valley and peaks overlooking the valley. On the way, one can see debris of a fighter which decades back crashed into nearby mountains. Climb to Kachni Lake and return to Madhyamaheshwar for the evening.
Return back to Ransi village. Spend time exploring the village in the evening.
Drive back to Rishikesh/Dehradun/Haridwar. Witness evening Ganga Aarti at Rishikesh or Haridwar and catch the night bus/train to New Delhi.
