The unknown yet breathtaking trek to the high altitude lake of Kachani Taal, along the valley of the Madhmaheshwar Ganga, climbs to an altitude of 4600 m through jungles of oak and rhododendron and past sprawling meadows and terrifying cliffs.The adventure takes one deep into the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary amidst snow capped peaks of Chaukhamba and Shipton and the snow fields of Panpatia. The undertaking is a perfect blend of natural beauty, culture, cuisine and traditions – from breathtaking views of the snow-laden mountains to peaceful evenings with the sound of temple bells ringing in the valleys, from locally prepared dishes to archaeological wonders the journey promises to be an interesting adventure.

Price Includes

  • Stay in tents during trek and home-stay/ guesthouse (max 2/3 person per room/tent depending upon place and availability of rooms). Toilet tent would be used
  • All meals during the trek (meals during travel not included). Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea (thrice a day). Meals would be vegetarian.
  • All permits like forest permission, camping fee, etc.
  • Services of trek leader, guide and helpers.
  • Equipment - Sleeping bag, liner for sleeping bag, camping mattress
  • High altitude medical kit (includes altitude sickness medicines)
  • Micro spikes if needed for the trek (while walking on snow/glacier)

Price Excludes

  • Rucksack, trekking shoes, jackets, poncho, rain coat, trekking pole and other personal use equipment etc.
  • Personal backpack offloading. Backpack can be offloaded (weight limit is maximum 8Kg) at an additional charge if required.
  • Transport (transport can be arranged if requested on additional charge)
  • Any optional activity (like paragliding etc.) outside trekking itinerary
  • Entry ticket to any other place before or after trekking
  • The high altitude lake of Kachani Taal is a virtually unknown beauty nestled in the lap of the Himalayas close to the peaks of Chaukhamba and Shipton and the snow fields of Panpatia.
  • Panoramic Himalayan views of several major peaks of the Kedarnath region like Chaukhamba, Mandani Parvat, Osatoli etc.
  • The rich flora and fauna of the Himalayas including the elusive musk deer that is often seen roaming in this region. During the winter season hundreds of Himalayan Thar can been along the trail to the lake.

Day 1Dehradun/Haridwar – Rudraprayag – Ukhimath - Ransi| Drive – 240km, 8-9hrs

Arrive early morning at Dehradun/Haridwar and drive to Ransi via Ukhimath. Overnight stay at guesthouse/lodge/home-stay in Ransi village. Visit the famous Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath which is the winter seat of Kedarnath deity.

Day 2Ransi (1750M) – Nanu (2350M) | Trek – 9km, 5-6hrs

Start trek from the village Ransi, we will pass by Gaundhar and Bantoli villages on the way to Nanu where we will camp for the day. Gaundhar sits on the confluence of Madhmaheshwar Ganga and Morkhanda Rivers.

Day 3Nanu (2350M) – Madhyamaheshwar (3250M) | Trek – 5km, 3-4hrs

It is a short but steep trek from Nanu to Madhyamaheshwar temple. One can hike up to the meadows of Budha Madhyamaheshwar in the evening to catch the majestic peaks turn orange as the sun sets. It will be a warm up session for the tough trek to the Kaachni Lake tomorrow.

Day 4Madhyamaheshwar – Kachni Taal (4600m) - Madhyamaheshwar | Trek – 16 km, 8-9 hrs

A tough day of trekking with some steep sections. Hike up to Kachni Khal (pass) and crossing over to other side would give majestic views of Pandav Sera valley and peaks overlooking the valley. On the way, one can see debris of a fighter which decades back crashed into nearby mountains. Climb to Kachni Lake and return to Madhyamaheshwar for the evening.

Day 5Madhyamaheshwar – Ransi | Trek – 14 km, 5-6hrs

Return back to Ransi village. Spend time exploring the village in the evening.

Day 6Ransi – Ukhimath – Dehradun/Haridwar | Drive 240 km, 8-9 hrs

Drive back to Rishikesh/Dehradun/Haridwar. Witness evening Ganga Aarti at Rishikesh or Haridwar and catch the night bus/train to New Delhi.
